Hello fellow camera club members
To say this has been an unprecedented season for our club is an understatement! We, like many others, have been forced to limit our contact with each other and cancel our meetings to keep everyone safe.
As September approached we were unsure of what to do, never having to face this before. Our endgame was to learn how to do zoom meetings and as our only alternative this is what we decided to do. So far, they’ve been a learning experience, but are coming along nicely. I know not everyone is into the zoom meetings but they’re fairly easy to connect to if you follow the instructions that Jan has sent out.
We are going to have meetings the second and fourth Wednesday of every month starting in January and a program of sorts will be sent out shortly so that you know what is coming up. We know for some members this is not ideal and it’s not the same as meeting in person but we still want to carry-on with our club and we feel zoom is the right way to go. So far the feedback has been positive and we have some good speakers lined up for future meetings.
Due to Covid, we were unable to do Santa House this year which was very unfortunate, but in the grand scheme of things it is better to keep everyone safe especially our older population, the kids, the jolly old elf himself as well as our volunteers! We’re sure Santa will be back next year to help us out and all will be very happy to see him!
Due to the lack of funds coming in to support our program we are asking any members that would like to do a presentation to please send the information to me.
We are trying to have a mixture of Club presenters and guest speakers to mitigate the cost. Another tradition that has gone by the wayside is our Annual Christmas Potluck. We hope that everyone will keep their recipes handy and we’ll be able to meet again next year for our get together.
We trust that everyone will have an enjoyable Christmas season and the happiest of New Year’s even though it will be a little different this year.
Stay safe everyone.
